This one’s a sequel to a really old song.  See if you can find the references.  This one’s called “Revisiting Old Ghosts.” 

Do you remember the days I’ve chosen to forget?  Or the grudge you held against that young love that I had?  Or the summer spent on your street where you got your first taste of defeat?  Well, they come back and haunt me.  But the door never closed on you, you simply marched your way to the back of the room where you failed to realize that it was so selfish of you to think you could free yourself of the world’s cold view just because you closed your eyes.  And I recall how we drifted apart that Fall.  It was almost as if the August rain washed your basement away.  But you still clung fast to that dream as you floated on down your street.  Did you tattoos consume the days of youth that you wasted with me?  It’s surprising that someone so much older than me took so long to grow up.  But did you ever really grow up?  You couldn’t account for the biting chill of the rain on that August day when she washed me away.  Why don’t you open up your eyes?
